Taking stock of VC activity in late 2022, we see that it did not escape the slowdown of earlier quarters—and was not able to match the dealmaking output of 2021. Moreover, Q4 2022 was the first quarter to drop below $10 billion in exit value since 2013. Despite some cause for concern, there is still opportunity in early investing stages and continued growth with regards to fundraising, which in 2022 exceeded its previous record with an annual figure of $162.6 billion.
